<p>The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, is an Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC act. It is an all-India Institute for higher education for men and women, fully residential, and awards its own degrees. Admissions to all the higher degree programmes of BITS, Pilani, at its Pilani campus, Goa Campus and Hyderabad Campus for the I Semester 2015-16 will be made on the basis of a Computer based Online test conducted by BITS, Pilani followed by interview(s) of shortlisted candidates.<strong><br />

<p><strong>Duration: </strong>Normally four semesters.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility:</strong> A minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.</p>
<p>Once the candidates are selected for admission in the higher degree programmes, they have to report alongwith the original marksheets and qualifying degree certificate on <strong>29th July, 2015</strong>. If their final result of the qualifying examination is not available on the reporting date i.e. 29th July, 2015 then they should have at least already appeared in all exams of final year and they must submit their qualifying degree and marksheets latest by 1st October, 2015. If they do not submit the original qualifying degree and marksheets by 1st October, 2015, their admission to the program will automatically be discontinued and no fees will be refunded and they will be asked to leave the institute immediately. Further if the aggregate marks in the qualifying examination is below 60%, the offer of Provisional admission stands automatically cancelled. No further extension of date for submission of final results of the qualifying examination will be given.</p>
<p><strong>Note</strong>:(i)  Admissions to <strong>M.E./M.Pharm </strong>are based on performance of candidates in <strong>computer-based online test </strong>conducted by BITS. The online tests will be held during <strong>30<sup>th</sup> May– 31<sup>st</sup> May 2015</strong> at centers in India</p>
<p><strong>Programme-wise eligibility criteria:</strong></p>
<p><strong>Normal Input: </strong></p>
<p><strong>M.E. Biotechnology –</strong> Any integrated first degree of BITS or its equivalent with adequate preparation in Bio-chemistry and Microbiology.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Chemical– </strong>Integrated first degree of BITS in Chemical Engineering or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech (Chemical)..</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Civil – </strong>Integrated first degree of BITS in Civil Engineering or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech (Civil).</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Computer Science – </strong>Integrated first degree of BITS in Computer Science/Engineering or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech (Computer Science/Engineering). <strong>Candidates with a B.E./B.Tech degree in IT area will not be eligible to apply for M.E. Computer Science.</strong></p>
<p><strong>M.E. Communication Engineering –</strong> Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical &amp; Electronics/Electronics &amp; Instrumentation/Electronics &amp; Communication or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech in these disciplines.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Mechanical; Design Engineering; Manufacturing Systems Engineering –</strong> Integrated first degree of BITS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech in these disciplines.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Mechanical (with specialization in Thermal Engineering) –</strong> Integrated first degree of BITS in Mechanical or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Embedded Systems</strong><strong> –</strong>Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical &amp; Electronics/Electronics &amp; Instrumentation/ Electronics &amp; Communication/ Computer Science or its equivalent such as BE/B.Tech in these disciplines.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Microelectronics –</strong> Integrated first degree of BITS in Electrical &amp; Electronics/ Electronics &amp; Instrumentation/ Electronics &amp; Communication / Computer Science/ Physics or its equivalent.</p>
<p><strong>M.E. Software Systems –</strong> Any Integrated first degree of BITS or its equivalent with specific prior preparation. <strong>Candidates with a B.E./B.Tech degree in IT area are eligible to apply for M.E. Software Systems. They may need some specific prior preparation.</strong></p>
<p><strong>M.Pharm; </strong><strong>M.Pharm (</strong>with specialization in Pharmaceutics/Pharmaceutical Chemistry)<strong> –</strong> Integrated first degree of BITS in Pharmacy or its equivalent such as B. Pharm.</p>
<p>Admissions to all Programmes will be made purely on merit. Admissions to all <strong>higher degree Programmes</strong> are based on the performance of the candidates in the <strong>computer based online test</strong> conducted by BITS The test will be a computer based online test conducted by BITS Pilani at dedicated centers at different cities of India. Computer based online test means the candidate sits in front of a computer and the questions are presented on the computer monitor and the candidate submits the answers though the use of keyboard &amp; mouse. Each computer is connected to a server, which prepares the question set and delivers it to the candidate on the computer. <strong>The test are planned to be conducted will be conducted during </strong><strong>30<sup>th</sup> May– 31<sup>st</sup> May 2015</strong><strong>and the candidate can choose the center to take the test as prescribed in later sections.</strong></p>

<p><strong>Test II: </strong>                                          Duration: 120 Minutes.                  Total number of questions: 100</p>
<p>Test II is compulsory for Students applying for all higher degree programmes except those who are applying for only Software systems. The Test II subject for a student is based on his/her qualifying degree programme. This paper will attempt to test student’s grasp of the basic subjects of his discipline. The discipline courses of different degree programmes of BITS have been used for constructing the questions. The course descriptions are available in the syllabus given later in the brochure</p>
<p><strong>Special Test for Software Systems:</strong>       Duration 60 Minutes              Total number of questions: 50</p>
<p>This Special aptitude test for Software Systems is required for only those students who are applying for M.E. Software systems. The course descriptions are available in the syllabus given later in the brochure.</p>
<p>For all the above tests all questions are of objective type (multiple choice questions); each question with four answers choices only one being the correct choice. Each correct answer fetches 3 marks, while each incorrect answer has a penalty of 1 mark. No marks are awarded or deducted for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as the correct answer.</p>
<p>The questions will be selected at random from a large question bank. Different candidates will get different question sets. An expert committee will ensure that the question sets are of comparable difficulty level, content, question type etc. In this matter the decision of the expert committee will be final and binding on the candidate.</p>
<p>All the questions and instructions of the test will be in English only.</p>
<p><strong>Each candidate who registers for test will be required to download a ‘Hall Ticket’ from the website during 26th May – 29th May 2015. Candidates</strong> with the hall ticket only will be allowed inside the test centers. Candidates should bring a pen for the purpose of rough work, signing etc. Blank sheets for rough work will be provided, if required. Candidates can bring a calculator without any network connectivity/programmable feature. Candidates are not allowed to bring any other personal belongings such as mobile phones; ipods or any other electronic gadgets</p>
<p>All centers are closely monitored for security and candidates’ identity and activities will be recorded using web cameras and/or closed circuit TV cameras. Anyone violating the rules of the test center will not be allowed to continue with the test and will be automatically disqualified.</p>
<p>On completion of the test, the computer will display to each candidate his/her score obtained.</p>
<p><strong>A candidate can submit only one form for Higher Degree Admissions. However if a candidate discovers any mistake in the form submitted by him, he can submit a second application form duly completed before the last date, indicating on the top of second application form that his first application form (giving its number) should be cancelled. In such cases, the second application has to be accompanied by a fresh application fee.</strong></p>
<p><strong>Test Centers </strong></p>
<p>In order to facilitate a larger number of students all over India to participate in this test, <strong>apart from Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad</strong> where it is expected that a large number of students will take the test, the Institute is also planning to offer the tests at dedicated test centers in several cities. The planned test centers are in the following cities. <strong>The final list of centers and the operating days at each center will depend on the number of applicants and their preferences.</strong></p>

<p>ISM offers admission in M. Tech. to the aspirants both with and without valid GATE score. The Candidates, who have sufficiently high and valid GATE score, may apply for admission in M.Tech as a GATE qualified Candidate, will henceforth be called <b>GATE Candidates. </b></p>
<p><b>While, Candidates who do not have valid GATE score, have to appear and qualify through an All India Entrance Examination conducted by ISM. These Candidates will henceforth be called ISM-EE Candidates.<br />
</b></p>
<p>Candidates having valid GATE score but not confident of getting a seat as GATE Candidate due to low GATE score, may apply as ISM-EE Candidates.</p>
<p>A Candidate may apply both as GATE Candidate and ISM-EE Candidate by sending two different application forms and by paying application fee for each them. In one application form, a Candidate can apply either as GATE Candidate or as ISM-EE Candidate</p>

<p>The scholarship will be offered only to those students who will be admitted as GATE Candidates at the rate of Rs. 8000/- per month.<br />
Candidates who are admitted through the entrance examination (i.e. <b>ISMEE</b>) will not be offered any scholarship</p>

<p>Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech. Programme of the Institute should have</p>
<p>Minimum 55% or CGPA/CPI of 5.5 in 10 point scale (without rounding off) in the qualifying degree for UR/OBC Candidates<br />
Minimum 50% or CGPA/CPI of 5.0 in 10 point scale (without rounding off) in the qualifying degree for SC/ST Candidates</p>
<p><strong>Age Limit: </strong>The Candidate must be below the age of 30 years (35 years for women, PC, SC, ST &amp; OBC) as on the last date of application (28thMarch, 2015).</p>
<p><strong>The GATE Score card will be stamped after admission.</strong></p>
<p><span style="text-decoration: underline;"><span style="color: #008080;"><strong>APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION</strong></span></span></p>
<p>The application form for M.Tech. has to be submitted online, which is available on the ISM website www.ismdhanbad.ac.in from 24th Feb 2015 (Midnight).<br />
<strong>The application fee</strong> for M.Tech. Programme is Rs. 2000/- for UR/OBC Candidates and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST/PC Candidates.</p>

<p><strong><span data-scayt_word="NITIE" data-scaytid="3">NITIE</span> announces Admission for the following Programs through GATE (2014/2015)</strong></p>
<p><strong>Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (<span data-scayt_word="PGDIE" data-scaytid="2">PGDIE</span>), 2015-17</strong></p>
<p><strong><strong>Post Graduate Diploma in Manufacturing Management  (<span data-scayt_word="PGDMM" data-scaytid="7">PGDMM</span>), 2015-17</strong></strong></p>
<p><strong><strong><strong>Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management  (<span data-scayt_word="PGDPM" data-scaytid="8">PGDPM</span>), 2015-17</strong></strong></strong></p>
<p><strong>General Instructions: </strong></p>
<p><strong>1) Indian Students:</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">GATE (2014/2015) qualified students with 60% aggregate marks at graduation in Engineering/Technology in any branch for <span data-scayt_word="PGDIE" data-scaytid="4">PGDIE</span> program. For <span data-scayt_word="PGDMM" data-scaytid="10">PGDMM</span> &amp; <span data-scayt_word="PGDPM" data-scaytid="12">PGDPM</span> students with following engineering disciplines can only apply &#8211; Mechanical, Production, Automobile, Chemical, Civil, Textile, Electrical, Electronics &amp; other relevant branches such as Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation &amp; Industrial electronics.</p>
<p>However, candidate with Civil Engineering background will not be considered for <span data-scayt_word="PGDMM" data-scaytid="11">PGDMM</span>. Reservation and 5% relaxation on 60% aggregate marks are applicable to SC/ST/PD candidates as per Government of India rules for the programs. Only GATE qualifiers get Teaching Assistantship (at present <span data-scayt_word="@Rs" data-scaytid="20">@Rs</span>. 8000/- per month) and contingency expenditure as per rules.</p>
<p>Candidates who are currently in their final year of Engineering/Technology degree can also apply. They are required to:</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Complete their examination, viva voce etc.  by June, 2015</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">Submit the final year mark-sheet and provisional certificate by September 30, 2015.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">The final results should indicate qualifying degree with 60% aggregate marks (5% concession in case of SC/ST/PD candidates), else the admission to the program stands withdrawn.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Duration of work experience specified, if any, should be after graduation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Reservation for SC/ST/PD and <span data-scayt_word="OBC" data-scaytid="32">OBC</span> candidates belonging to the “Non-Creamy Layer” is as per the Government of India rules.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Certificates in support of SC/ST/PD/<span data-scayt_word="OBC" data-scaytid="33">OBC</span> Non-Creamy Layer, as applicable to be produced at the time of <span data-scayt_word="GD" data-scaytid="35">GD</span>/PI with self attested.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">The Application Fee is <strong>Rs.1000 (<span data-scayt_word="Rs" data-scaytid="36">Rs</span> 500 in case of SC/ST/PD candidates)</strong> for applicants from India and <span data-scayt_word="SAARC" data-scaytid="37">SAARC</span> countries.</p>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;">The details of the payment of fees are to be provided to complete the filling up of the application form.</li>
<li style="text-align: justify;">The Application fee has to be physically deposited in any of the branches of <span data-scayt_word="SBI" data-scaytid="38">SBI</span> or <span data-scayt_word="ICICI" data-scaytid="40">ICICI</span> bank through <span data-scayt_word="challan" data-scaytid="42">challan</span> payment. Payment can be made online through payment gateway of <span data-scayt_word="ICICI" data-scaytid="41">ICICI</span>. Online option is also available for <span data-scayt_word="SBI" data-scaytid="39">SBI</span> account holders through <span data-scayt_word="ICollect" data-scaytid="43">ICollect</span> facility.</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Candidates are requested to bring two sets of Application Form along with all original and photocopies of all certificates/ <span data-scayt_word="marksheets" data-scaytid="45">marksheets</span>/ experience certificates for verification at the time of <span data-scayt_word="GD" data-scaytid="44">GD</span>/ PI.</p>

<p><strong>For Engineering Disciplines</strong></p>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>The applicants for M.Tech and M.S. must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a Master’s degree in Science with minimum 60 percent/6.5 CPI (on a 10 point Scale).</li>
<li>The applicants for Ph.D. in CSE/ECE should have a Master’s Degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE)r Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) or closely related areas from any recognized University with a minimum of 70% marks. In case of candidates having relevant work/ research experience in academia/ industry after the Master’s degree, the minimum marks requirement may be relaxed. Candidates with Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology with exceptionally good academic record will also be considered for admission to the Ph.D. program subject to a minimum CGPA of 8.5 on a 10.0 point scale.</li>
<li>The applicants for Ph.D in Mechanical and MME must have a M.Tech. In Mechanical or Mechatronics or in relevent areas with minimum 60% marks/6.5 CPI (on a 10 point Scale)..</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> For Physics and Mathematics Disciplines</strong></p>
<p>The applicants for Ph.D. must have a Master’s degree in respective or allied area with minimum 60 percent/6.5 CPI (on a 10 point Scale).</p>
<p><strong> For Humanities and Social Sciences</strong></p>
<p>The applicants for Ph.D. should have a Master’s degree in relevant/ interdisciplinary subject with minimum 55 percent marks / 5.5 CPI (on a 10 point scale).<br />

<p><strong>Procedure </strong><br />
The applicants must apply for admission on prescribed forms, which must be sent directly to the Chairman, AC PGC.</p>
<ul class="showpoints">
<li>Pattern of question paper for the written exam conducted by the institute.</li>
<li>The question paper will be of one and half hour duration. It will consist of objective and short answer type questions. There will be NO negative marking.</li>
<li>All admissions will be made on approval by the Chairman, Academic Council on the recommendations of the duly constituted selection committees and the Chairman, AC PGC. The constitution of the selection committee will be proposed by the Chairman, AC PGC, and approved by the Chairman, Academic Council.</li>
<li>Admission to the M. Tech. program may be made directly based on the performance in the qualifying examination, GATE score, and overall academic record of the candidates. In addition, some of the candidates may also be called for written tests and/or interviews.</li>
<li>Admission to the M.S. and Ph.D. programs will be based on written tests, interviews and/or GATE score.</li>
<li>The selected candidates who have completed all the examinations including thesis examination and the viva voce before the date of registration but are unable to produce the certificate in proof of having passed and secured the minimum specified qualifying marks, may be considered for provisional admission. However, if admitted provisionally, they will be required to produce the evidence of their having passed the qualifying degree examination with minimum specified marks before the beginning date of the second mid-semester examination as specified in the academic calendar, failing which the admission may be canceled.</li>
<li>On approval by the Chairman of the Academic Council, the Chairman of the AC PGC will issue the admission letters to the candidates. Candidates will be required to deposit the prescribed fee on or before the specified date.</li>
<li>In case a candidate does not accept the offer by paying the prescribed fee by the specified date, the offer of admission may stand withdrawn, and the admission be offered to a candidate on the waiting list, if any, in order of merit.</li>
<li>The offer of admission may also stand withdrawn if the candidate who has accepted the offer fails to register by the date for late registration.</li>

<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">A written aptitude test common for all the branches of M.Tech admission <strong>will be conducted on</strong> 12th June 2014 in SPT-1 building (Block-C) of the university campus from 10.00 a.m to 12.00 p.m</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">On the same day at 02.00 p.m, the result of the test will be announced on the notice-board, which will be followed by the personal interview from 02.15 p.m onwards for the candidates shortlisted from the WAT-result on the same day</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">The interview process may continue even on next day</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">50% weightage of the score obtained in the written aptitude test-WAT and 50% weightage of the score obtained in the Personal Interview-PI</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">The first merit list for the <strong>admission will be announced on</strong> 18th June 2014</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;" align="justify">Accordingly the last date for paying fees by the candidates of the <strong>first merit list will be</strong> 20th June 2014</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D programme offered by Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) is a 2+3 years full-time residential programme which is segregated into two segments:</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">M.Tech programme (2 years) consisting of four- semesters and Ph.D programme (3 years) after successful completion of M.Tech will be decided on a case-to-case basis.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA</strong></p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Engineering Graduates under 10+2+4/ 10+3+3 system with minimum 70% marks or 7.0 CGPA are eligible to apply. The age of the candidates should not be more than 28 years as on July 01, of the year of admission. For reserved category, age relaxation as per Govt. of India rules will be followed (for TS positions only).  A valid GATE score will be considered as an added advantage for TS &amp; QHF position only. Candidates whose final results are awaited, but who are otherwise eligible as per the screening criteria, can also apply.</p>
